The “Digital Luxembourg” initiative, launched by the Luxembourg government in 2014, aims to strengthen the country’s position in the ICT sector. The “Future Hub” label, awarded to three secondary schools, represents the concrete implementation of this vision within technically oriented and innovative schools.
The BTS Communication technologies
The BTS Communication Technologies programme fits into this strategy by offering, over a two-year cycle, a curriculum focused on the technical aspects of a modern communication infrastructure, with strong involvement from external partners and a modern, ICT-adapted teaching approach.

Learning Outcomes
Advanced technical and practice-based training, preparing students to implement and manage IT infrastructure using all available modern communication technologies in a professional context according to the latest developments.
BTS Communication Technologies students will be able to:

Programme curriculum


Access to the programme
The following are currently eligible to enrol in the course, in accordance with current legislation:
- holders of a secondary school leaving certificate,
- holders of a general secondary school leaving certificate,
- holders of a foreign certificate recognised as equivalent by the Minister of National Education (see FAQ),
- holders off a technician’s leaving certificate who have passed the 8 preparatory modules for higher technical studies (4 in French and 4 in mathematics).
- holders of a technician’s diploma who have not taken or passed the 8 preparatory modules must take a preliminary entrance test in English and Mathematics (see ‘preliminary entrance tests’). If candidates have passed all 4 modules in a single subject (e.g. mathematics), they will be exempted from the preliminary entrance test in the subject of the preparatory module they have passed. If they pass these preliminary access tests, they will be able to submit an application (see ‘FAQ’).

- Apply by filling in the form available at https://enroll-bts.lgk.lu . The data will be used solely for enrolment purposes in connection with enrolment on the BTS course.
If you hold a foreign degree that has NOT yet been recognised by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education, you cannot apply at this stage. Please consult the FAQs and have your degree recognised before applying. - After your application has been processed, you will receive an email explaining how to prepare for the admission exam, how it is conducted, and what it covers.
The application file must be submitted through this webpage no later than June 28 (first session) or September 13 (second session) of the current year. Only the final school-leaving certificate may be added afterwards. You must hold, or obtain, a secondary school diploma (classical, general, or technical) or an equivalent foreign qualification.
Applicants who do not yet have their secondary school diploma, or who still need to complete a resit or make-up exam in September/October, may also register now. They will be allowed to start classes on the condition that they obtain their diploma in October, provided they achieve a sufficiently high ranking in the admission exam.
IMPORTANT: Once your application file has been submitted and verified, you will be contacted to receive detailed information on how to prepare for the admission exam.
Admission exam
Candidates must be present in person. They may not sit the exam remotely.
The admission examination consists of two parts.
- Pre-test: The questions will cover basic knowledge in technology, maths and IT. The aimis to check the candidate’s basic knowledge in the field. We do not assume that the candidate must be an expert in the subject matter at this stage.
- Interview: Discussions to clarify the ambitions, motivations and pre-requisites (technical and language) of future candidates.

The results of the admission exam will be communicated by e-mail.
Fees
- The tuition fees are €150 per semester.
- The fees must be paid within the week of the publication of the results of the admission exam (see above).

General information
▶ Which diploma will I receive?
BTS Diploma in Cybersecurity. If you successfully complete the programme, you will receive 120 ECTS credits. ( Art.3 )
▶ How much are the tuition fees?
150€ per semester ( Art. 1 RGD ) plus fees for online resources and certifications (+/-150 per semester)
▶ Do I need a laptop?
Yes, see the requirements above.
▶ What language are the courses taught in?
It is essential that you understand and speak English, as the courses, learning materials, exercises, exams, and general communication will all be conducted in English. Some lectures delivered by external experts may, however, be given in French. In addition, being able and willing to learn the basics of the Luxembourgish language is certainly an important factor for successful integration.
▶ How many places are there on the course?
We accept 14 students.
▶ When will the courses start?
The courses start in the last week of September.
▶ Will there be an internship?
Yes. A 12‑week internship in the field of cybersecurity is required and must be completed within a company. It takes place during the 4th semester, typically from the end of April to the end of June.
Admission and admission exam
▶ Am I eligible for the BTS programme? What are the requirements?
( Art. 10 (1) ) Access to studies leading to the brevet de technicien supérieur is open to holders of :
- a Luxembourg secondary school leaving certificate or technical secondary school leaving certificate, or a Luxembourg secondary school leaving certificate or general secondary school leaving certificate;
- a Luxembourg diploma of access to higher education ;
- foreign diplomas or certificates (EU an non-EU) recognised as equivalent by the Minister for National Education.
▶ I have a foreign (i.e. non-luxembourgish) diploma.
( Art. 10 (1) 3° ) If you hold a non-Luxembourgish BAC diploma, you must apply to the Luxembourg Ministry of Education, Children and Youth to have your diploma recognised. See here for more information. The LGK will not help you with the administrative procedures.
▶ I am a non-EU candidate and have a non-EU degree. My degree has not yet been recognized by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. Can I start the admission procedure without recognition of my non-EU diploma?
No. You must have your diploma recognised the Luxembourg Ministry of Education, Children and Youth. See here for more information
▶ Do I have to be present in person for the entrance exam?
The entrance exam takes place in person at the school in Esch-sur-Alzette. It is not possible to take the entrance exam online. No exceptions can be made.
▶ It is possible to apply via an online session?
No.
▶ I have a Luxembourg technician’s diploma but I did not pass the preparatory modules “modules préparatoires” in maths and English.
( Art. 10 (2) ) Holders of a Luxembourg technician’s diploma who have not passed all the preparatory modules may access the study programmes […] on condition that they have passed a preliminary access test to check your knowledge of the basics of English and Maths, prior to the admission procedure. The test takes place on the same day as the entrance exam.
▶ Do I need a residence permit?
( Art. 10 (4) ) Third-country citizens must be authorised to reside in Luxembourg in accordance with the amended law of 29 August 2008 on the free movement of persons and immigration in order to enrol in study programmes. As a non-European citizen, you will need a residence permit. The LGK will not help you with the administrative procedures.
▶ Does LGK provide an official invitation letter for visa purposes in order to attend the entrance examination?
No.
▶ Will the LGK help me find accommodation?
No. Accommodation is NOT provided. We cannot help with accommodation.
▶ Will I get some financial help during the admission process?
No.

Les inscriptions seront possibles dès la mi-mars de l’année en cours. Le dossier de candidature ainsi que les pièces requises (énumérées sur le site) à l’inscription sont remettre via cette page internet jusqu’au 04/07/2025 au plus tard.
Quelques précisions concernant le diplôme de fin d’études secondaires étranger
- Pour les diplômes de fin d’études secondaires et secondaires techniques étrangers hors Union européenne, une attestation de reconnaissance du diplôme établie par le Ministère de l’Education nationale, de l’Enfance et de la Jeunesse doit être jointe à la demande d’inscription.
- Les étudiants non luxembourgeois une preuve d’affiliation à une caisse de maladie doit également être jointe à la demande d’inscription.
Les candidats qui ne sont pas encore en possession de leur diplôme de fin d’études secondaires, respectivement qui ont encore un ajournement ou rattrapage à faire en septembre/octobre peuvent aussi s’inscrire dès que les inscriptions sont ouvertes. Ils seront admis aux cours sous réserve d’obtention de leur diplôme en octobre s’ils se classent en rang utile lors de l’examen d’admission.
Une première sélection des candidats se fera sur la base des dossiers de candidature.
Frais d’inscription
Les frais d’inscription s’élèvent à 150 € par semestre.
Au vu de la technicité de la formation, un maximum de 14 étudiants est prévu. Un concours d’admission composé d’un test écrit en 2 parties et d’une interview est organisé pour établir un classement.
Les informations relatives à la partie pratique de l’examen ainsi que les exercices vous seront envoyés par courriel, 7 jours avant les examens.
Les détenteurs du diplôme du Technicien luxembourgeois n’ayant pas réussi les modules préparatoires (anglais et maths) devront se soumettre à un test en mathématiques et en anglais avant de pouvoir participer au concours d’admission. Les informations relatives au test tout comme le cours de préparation au test de mathématiques et d’anglais vous seront envoyés par courriel.

Pour que le test d’admission se passe dans les meilleures conditions :
- Veuillez être présent au plus tard à 08h00 devant la salle C301, 3e étage bloc C du LGK.
- N’oubliez pas d’apporter le matériel nécessaire à la réalisation du test tel que des stylos, une règle, une équerre et une calculatrice.
- Veuillez présenter votre carte d’identité ou passeport.
